steam bent ash hand rail for VisualDNA office in Shoreditch

Category : Uncategorized

This was an exciting and challenging project that we worked on for an office space in London. This was a collaborative project working with the talented woodsman Ambrose Vevers to design and make a very simple and natural hand rail for the entrance stairs to the space. Here is a visual story of how it all came together.

We loved how the stripped lengths looked; very sculptural.

The rail felt wonderful to hold, very smooth and tactile.

Fitting the ash rail certainly had it’s challenges due to it’s wigglyness !

We love how well our twiggy creations sit in this lovely space. The collection consists of twig houses in 3 different sizes,  twig cubes in lots of different colours and sizes, twig arrows and finally twig bricks which come in pairs.

Flock installation for VisualDNA in Shoreditch

DSC03014

We were commissioned by VisualDNA to design, build and install an art installation that would be a dramatic and uplifting addition to the office space.

The flock was made up of 150 birds cut from birch plywood, each one was then hand painted. These images show the birds being laid out on the floor before they became the flock suspended from the ceiling.
